Planning a wedding in Merseyside? Whether you're tying the knot with your soulmate, celebrating a handfasting, or marking a commitment ceremony, this vibrant region offers venues that embrace love in all its forms and provide a backdrop to swoon over. From grand celebrations to intimate gatherings, here are 3 of my top venues where your unique love story can unfold in the great outdoors.

1. Isla Gladstone Conservatory

A tranquil moment at Isla Gladstone Conservatory, where love and nature harmoniously intertwine

Nestled in Stanley Park, the Isla Gladstone Conservatory is a Victorian glasshouse that has hosted a myriad of weddings, from traditional civil ceremonies to vibrant cultural celebrations. The Conservatory was first erected in 1870 and was part of park designer Edward Kemp’s vision to create a usable park space in North Liverpool, providing fresh-air and a place for exercise for the inner-city working people. It was originally intended to house tropical and exotic plants grown in surrounding greenhouses, but that seems to have fallen to it’s southern sister, The Sefton Park Palm House (we’ll get to that later!)

The park is iconic to Liverpool, although most locals know it as the open space that famously separates the home grounds of our beloved football clubs Liverpool and Everton.

Cultural Embrace: The venue has hosted a variety of cultural weddings, including Pakistani, Jewish, and African ceremonies, offering a flexible space that respects and celebrates diverse traditions.

Inclusive Atmosphere: Whether you're a couple, a polyamorous group, or identifying outside traditional labels, Isla Gladstone welcomes all love stories with open arms.

Scouse Spirit: Located in the iconic L4 postcode, synonymous with Anfield Stadium and Goodison Park, the venue exudes the warmth and friendliness characteristic of the city's people, making every guest feel at home.

Alright, this is the one everyone adores and for very good reason. If you’re looking for a venue that’s got beauty, history, and a splash of green – and not just in the décor – Sefton Park Palm House is your place. Picture this: a stunning Victorian glasshouse, tucked in the heart of Sefton Park, surrounded by greenery, and ready to help you celebrate your big day in the most eco-friendly way possible. What’s not to love?

The Palm House isn’t just any wedding venue – it’s a full-on botanical beauty with history to boot. Opened in 1896, this glasshouse is now a Grade II* listed building, which means it’s got some serious character. And when you’ve got acres of parkland surrounding you, you don’t need much more for a gorgeous backdrop. You’ll be walking down the aisle, surrounded by tropical plants, and feeling like you’re in the middle of a garden paradise.

Sustainable Start: Now, if you're keen on keeping things green – as in eco-friendly, not just the plants – the Palm House ticks all the boxes. It’s all about sustainability, right down to its catering. They work with Dine, who are proper champions of sourcing local and sustainable ingredients. So, you can tuck into a menu that’s as good for the planet as it is for your taste buds. Plus, no need to worry about waste, they’ve got that covered too.

Big, small or somewhere in between: Whether you’re after a small, intimate do or a big bash with all the cousins, the Palm House’s flexible space can cater to up to 220 guests seated, or 400 standing. And don’t worry about wheelchair access, either – they’ve got that sorted. And if you’re after a venue where you can really make the place your own, the Palm House gives you exclusive use, so your big day is all yours, no interruptions.

Every couple I know who’s tied the knot here has raved about it. Seriously, the space is stunning, the staff are spot on, and the whole vibe is top-notch. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to celebrate, laugh, and maybe even have a little tear. Whether it’s a summer wedding or an autumnal affair, the Palm House will make sure your day is one to remember.
